Oil Painting of Renoir's 'Luncheon of the Boating Party'

Luncheon of the Boating Party

An oil painting reproduction of one of the most famous paintings in the world, painted by Pierre Auguste Renoir in 1881. The painting is in the Impressionist style and was identified as the best painting in the 7th Impressionist Exhibition of 1882.

The painting depicts landscape, still-life and figures all in one painting showing a group of friends relaxing after an afternoon boating on the river

As usual Renoir painted a number of his friends into the composition including seamstress 'Aline Charigot' who is holding a small dog and is sat at the bottom left of the painting, Renoir later married her.

This is a truly inspiring piece as not only has Renoir combined a number of painting techniques in the one painting, he has brought a great deal of light in coming in from the large opening in the balcony, and with the 2 men wearing white vests, and the white tablecloth helps to keep the painting very light.
